We’re thrilled to announce that Arcay Studios has officially begun post‑production finishing for Something To Entertain You, the upcoming independent documentary by Jon and Mary Orlin. This vivid, heartwarming film spotlights the one‑of‑a‑kind artist duo Karen & Tony Barone, the sculptors, creatives, and spirited adventurers, best known for their larger‑than‑life aluminum sculptures dotting the Coachella Valley. It’s a story that celebrates love, art, and the power of joyful expression, and we’re honored to bring the final polish with our color grading, audio mixing, and sound design expertise.

Color Correction & Grading: Our team is applying professional color finishing using DaVinci Resolve, ensuring each vibrant sculpture, costume, and performance pops with clarity and emotional depth.

Audio Sound Design & Dialogue Clean‑Up: Led by co‑owner Koren Young, our sound design team is enhancing the film’s audio landscape—from ambient sounds and Foley to polishing dialogue—making sure every note of Tony and Karen’s expressive world sings.

Jon & Mary Orlin bring rich storytelling credentials:

  • Jon Orlin serves as executive producer, director, editor, and cinematographer. A former CNN executive producer and a co‑founder of Yahoo’s FinanceVision and Yahoo! Studios, Jon also led video for TechCrunch and created the documentary The Old Bartender Blues, available on Amazon Prime.
  • Mary Orlin, a James Beard and Emmy Award‑winning TV producer and wine journalist, co‑hosts the podcast Sip Sip Hooray! and was the creator and executive producer of NBC’s In Wine Country. She cut her teeth at CNN producing stories on travel, food, and wine.

Their documentary opens a window into the Barones’ world: art as everyday life, from their food to their fashion to their iconic life‑size aluminum rabbits, dogs, and superheroes scattered throughout Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley. Filming stretched across more than 70 days and spanned several years and numerous interviews. The feature-length documentary project officially completed production in early 2025. Now, the story and picture are locked and Arcay Studios is handling the final color and audio finishing.

Production Challenges & Collaborative Solutions

  • Extended filming timeline: The project began in fall 2019, was paused during the COVID‑19 pandemic, and resumed in 2023. This long arc highlights the directors’ dedication and the documentary’s layered storytelling.
  • Complex visual palette: Capturing a couple whose life itself is vibrant art meant our color team had to balance hyper‑saturated visuals with naturalism, making colors vivid without feeling artificial.
  • Challenging audio environments: On‑site recordings among sculptures in the Coachella Valley posed ambient noise challenges. Our audio team, led by Koren Young, addressed this with tailored sound design techniques alongside careful dialogue clean‑up and audio sweetening.

Looking Ahead: Festival Strategy & Release

The Orlins plan to submit Something To Entertain You to film festivals in 2026. Notably, they’ve already submitted to the 2026 Palm Springs International Film Festival, with selections to be announced in November 2025. The film’s festival run is set to elevate the Barones’ story and open paths for broader audience reach.
