Arcay Studios Provides Sound Design for An American Storyteller: The Art of Arnold Friberg

Arcay Studios was honored to provide complete sound design services for the documentary An American Storyteller: The Art of Arnold Friberg, a visually rich and inspiring film that explores the life, faith, and artistic legacy of one of America’s most iconic painters.

Now available on Amazon Prime Video, the documentary is narrated by legendary sportscaster Jim Nantz and produced by First Freedom Art Company. Directed by Bruce D. Johnson and edited by Josh Turchetta, the film takes audiences deep into the world of Arnold Friberg — the celebrated artist whose work shaped both American religious art and Hollywood cinematic history.

Known for his powerful paintings of faith, patriotism, and heroism, Friberg created some of the most recognizable imagery in American culture. The documentary highlights his contributions to Cecil B. DeMille’s epic film The Ten Commandments, where Friberg’s costume designs and storyboards helped define the visual identity of the production. The film also explores his deeply spiritual paintings, including the famous George Washington in Prayer at Valley Forge, which has inspired generations through its striking portrayal of faith and perseverance.

Arcay Studios worked closely with director Bruce D. Johnson and editor Josh Turchetta throughout post-production to help shape the sonic identity of the documentary. Using Fairlight in DaVinci Resolve Studio, we created and refined the film’s complete sound design, carefully balancing archival footage, narration, interviews, ambient environments, and cinematic moments to support the emotional weight and historical depth of Friberg’s story.
